When looking to buy a home, viewing multiple houses helps you define what type of home you want for you and your family. Once you see different house layouts, neighborhoods, and outdoor spaces, you get a better feel of what will and won’t work for your household.
Open houses are an excellent opportunity to go house shopping.
Reason #1: Open houses have a low-pressure and casual atmosphere. You can pop in and out of the home or spend your time looking. The only time limit is the hours of the open house.
Reason #2: It is an opportunity to meet the neighbors. Many times people next door are curious about the nearby houses. It is a great time to ask potential future neighbors about the neighborhood and any inside knowledge about the house.
Reason #3: You can get the perspective of other buyers. You can get a feeling that there is a lot of interest in the house by the sheer volume of visitors. And you may hear some new insight by ‘accidentally’ overhearing a conversation or two.
Reason #4: It is the only opportunity to speak directly to the house’s listing agent. By meeting with the listing agent, you can learn some unique facts about the home that doesn’t fit in the MLS listing description, like hidden, useful features or some fun historical facts about the home.
