Selling Your Home? Go On Vacation!

One of the biggest day-to-day pains of selling your home is having to be always ready to show your home. This means always keeping it immaculately clean, making last-minute arrangements for fur babies, and never really feeling relaxed in your home. So what better time to leave it all behind and take a long, much-needed vacation?

Before you leave, follow these five tips, and you may come back to a home under contract.

  • Tip #1: Notify your realtor of your vacation plans. Give your listing agent your dates, the travel itinerary (including time zones), and the best way to contact you, whether by phone, text, or email. That way, they can contact you immediately when that big offer comes.

  • Tip #2: Leave your home properly cleaned and staged. The best thing about leaving for vacation is that you do not have to do this on a daily basis. It is one and done until you return.

  • Tip #3: Ensure the lawn and landscaping are appropriately maintained. It is amazing how fast a place can look neglected when the lawn and landscaping are overgrown or unwatered. Don’t lose out on offers for something easily remedied.

  • Tip #4: Have someone pick up your mail and newspapers daily. The front of your home is the showcase. Make sure clutter doesn’t get in the way.

  • Tip #5: Set some lights on a timer. Although you are away enjoying a nice long vacation, you want your house to appear lived in.
